Breeders Cup Filly and Mares Turf 2011 - Perfect Shirl Takes Surprise Win

The Breeders Cup Filly & Mare Turf over 1¼ miles and is open to fillies and mares aged three years and over. It has only been running for ten years, but already it has had some outstanding winners, not least of which was the great Ouija Board, who won the race in both 2004 and 2006. In 2008 the top prize went to the American trained Forever Together who was impressive, she was followed by Midday who won the race for Henry Cecil in 2009 as the European team claimed the win.

There is a massive prize fund of $2 million for this race and one that will be of interest to European punters is the excellent Misty For Me. The Aidan O'Brien trained horse is a group 1 winner on her best form and despite having been unlucky with the draw has to have something of a chance on Friday night.
