Breeders Cup 2011 - Potential European Runners

One of the main reasons why the Breeders Cup has become increasingly popular in recent years is because we are seeing more and more of the top European horses heading across the pond to take on their American counterparts in the championship races. The Breeders Cup generates plenty of interest in the UK and Ireland in particular with some of the big yards aiming their star names at the Breeders Cup at the end of each season. Traditionally the European horses will fare better on the turf while the dirt races are dominated by the American bred and trained horses.

There have been a number of European horses in recent years who have gone across the Atlantic to claim memorable wins in the Breeders Cup. They include the brilliant Goldikova in the Mile, Conduit who won back-to-back Breeders Cup Turf's and Man Of Iron who won the Marathon for Aidan O'Brien. Trainers will only send their horses from Europe if they believe they have a real chance and the ground comes up right so they are always to be taken seriously in the betting.
